SUZE ORMAN’S PERSONAL FINANCE COURSE SWEEPSTAKES: OFFICIAL RULES

1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

2. Eligibility:

a. Open only to legal U.S. residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia, excluding residents of Florida and New York.

b. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older or the age of majority in their state of residence and have Internet access.

c. Employees, interns and so-called “temporary employees” of Suze Orman Media, Inc. and Hay House, Inc. and their parent and affiliate companies, suppliers as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of all the foregoing are not eligible to enter or win.

d. The sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law. Void in FL and NY.

e. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to the Official Rules and Sponsor’s and Administrator’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Sweepstakes. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

3. Sponsor:

4. Timing:

Sweepstakes will take place in multiple monthly rounds over a 7-month period (each, a “Round”). The Sweepstakes begins on October 16, 2016 at 12:01:00 a.m. Pacific Time and ends on May 17, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Time (the “Promotion Period”). The designated Rounds are as follows:

Round 1: 10/16-11/15/2016

Round 2: 11/16-12/16

Round 3: 12/16-1/15/2017

Round 4: 1/16-2/17/17

Round 5: 2/16-3/17/17

Round 6: 3/16-4/17/17

Round 7: 4/16-5/17/17

5. Prize:

a. Monthly Prize Drawings: At the conclusion of each Round, one (1) winner will win $5,000 to be provided in the form of a check made payable to the winner. Approximate retail value: $5000. Prizes will be fulfilled approximately eight to ten (8-10) weeks after the conclusion of the Promotion Period. Odds of winning a prize in the Sweepstakes Prize depend on the number of eligible entries received during the Round and in the overall Promotion Period.

b. All prizes are non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason. Winners are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with prize receipt and/or use.

c. Total value of all prizes awarded in the Sweepstakes: $35,000.

6. How to Enter:

a. Online Entry:

i. Each entrant has an equal opportunity to submit seven (7) Sweepstakes entries during the Promotional Period. During the Promotional Period, entrants will receive one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes each time they complete a lesson quiz by submission of the required form in Suze Orman’s Personal Finance Online Course (the “Course”). There are seven lessons within the course. Entrants who have completed Lesson(s) prior to the start of the Sweepstakes are still eligible to revisit the course and complete the entry forms at the end of each lesson. Entrant may complete all seven (7) courses/quiz and enter at any time during the Promotional Period. All fields on the online entry form must be completed to be entered and be eligible to win. Incomplete entry forms are null and void.

ii. If an entrant does not complete or continue the courses, he/she may still enter up to a total of seven (7) times during the Promotion Period by entering the Sweepstakes online.

iii. To enter the Sweepstakes for free or without participation in the Course, entrants may complete and submit an alternate online e form to enter the Sweepstakes. Entrant may submit the form up to seven (7) times for a total of seven (7) entries during the Promotional Period: Enter the Sweepstakes.

iv. LIMIT: No matter the method of entry or combination thereof as described above, the total number of entries per entrant may not exceed seven (7). All entrants may designate the timing and number of entries (up to seven) submitted at their individual discretion during the Promotion Period.

b. Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any entrant to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entrant’s entry and that entrant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system or software to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Sponsor, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to review and investigate all entries and to take any and all measures it deems necessary to ensure a fair Sweepstakes. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected registrations, which will be disqualified and are null and void.

c. In the event of a dispute, entry information will be declared made by the authorized email account used at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned an email account provided by a telephone company, wireless service provider, Internet access provider, Internet service provider or other organization (e.g. business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses.

7. Selection of Sweepstakes Winners:

Receiving a prize is contingent upon compliance with these Official Rules as solely determined by Sponsor and/or Administrator.

a. A total of seven (7) winners will be awarded a prize in this Sweepstakes. Following the conclusion of each Round, on or around the 19th day of each month during the Promotion Period, Administrator will randomly select the Round’s potential Sweepstakes prize winner from all eligible entries received. The potential Sweepstakes winner will be notified via email using the email address submitted at time of entry within two weeks after the drawing. The winners’ names will also be posted on or around the 3rd of each month to www.SuzeU.com/Sweepstakes.

b. An entrant may only win one prize during the Sweepstakes. Once an entrant wins a prize, the entrant is ineligible to win a subsequent Round or receive another prize in the Sweepstakes.

c. All eligible non-winning entries will automatically rollover to each subsequent Round during the Promotion Period.

d. The potential prize winner will be required to respond and claim the prize within seven (7) days of the Administrator sending the prize notification email. Failure of the winner to respond may result in forfeiture of any prize and an alternate winner may, at the Administrator’s discretion, be randomly selected.

e. Any return of prize notification email as undeliverable may result in forfeiture of any prize and an alternate winner may, at the Administrator’s sole discretion, be randomly selected.

f. In the event that a winner is disqualified for any reason, the Administrator may, in its sole discretion, award the applicable prize to an alternate winner selected at random.

g. Prizes will not be replaced if lost or stolen and are non-transferable. Winners agree to accept the prize “as is.”

8. Release:

a. By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants and winners agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, Administrator, and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, successors and assigns, agents, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies and each of their respective parent companies and each such company’s shareholders, members, officers, directors, and employees (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Sweepstakes or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. Further, in connection to the foregoing, each winner assumes all liability for any injury, death, or damage caused, or allegedly caused, by participating in the Sweepstakes or use or redemption of the prize.

b. Entrants hereby waive application of California Civil Code Section 1542 which provides as follows: A GENERAL RELEASE DOES NOT EXTEND TO CLAIMS WHICH THE CREDITOR DOES NOT KNOW OR SUSPECT TO EXIST IN HIS FAVOR AT THE TIME OF EXECUTING THE RELEASE, WHICH IF KNOWN BY HIM MUST HAVE MATERIALLY AFFECTED HIS SETTLEMENT WITH THE DEBTOR. Entrants expressly waive the provisions of Section 1542 of the California Civil Code as well as any other statutes, rules, laws, ordinances, or common law principles or other authority of similar effect of any jurisdiction, and further waive any right to invoke said provisions now or in the future with regard to the Sweepstakes. Entrants and the winners further acknowledge and agree that this waiver is an essential and material term of these Official Rules and the Sweepstakes. Winner may be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release (unless prohibited by law) and other documents as determined by Sponsor or Administrator in their sole discretion; and return the aforementioned materials to Sponsor or Administrator or prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate.

9. Publicity:

a. Except where prohibited by law, participation in the Sweepstakes constitutes each winner’s consent to Sponsor’s and Administrator’s use of winner’s name, image, likeness, photograph, signature, voice, statements/opinions and/or hometown and state for promotional purposes in any and all media, in perpetuity, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.

10. General Conditions:

a. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Sweepstakes, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures, human error or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Sweepstakes, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. In such event, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prizes at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor and/or Administrator reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules of this or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

11. Limitations of Liability:

a. The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Promotion; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Sweepstakes or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. In the event that production, technical, seeding, programming or any other reasons cause more than stated number of prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be available and/or claimed, Sponsor reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, un-awarded, eligible prize claims.

12. Disputes:

EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PRE-EMPTED BY FEDERAL OR OTHER APPLICABLE STATE LAW, THE SWEEPSTAKES SHALL BE GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, WITHOUT GIVING EFFECT TO ANY CONFLICT OF LAW PROVISIONS THEREOF. ENTRANTS UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT ALL CLAIMS, DISPUTES OR CONTROVERSIES BETWEEN ENTRANT AND THE RELEASED PARTIES SHALL BE RESOLVED BY FINAL AND BINDING ARBITRATION IN THE COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA. BY ENTERING, ENTRANTS VOLUNTARILY AND KNOWINGLY WAIVE ANY RIGHT THEY HAVE TO A JURY TRIAL. THIS ARBITRATION CONTRACT IS MADE PURSUANT TO A TRANSACTION IN INTERSTATE COMMERCE AND ITS INTERPRETATION, APPLICATION, ENFORCEMENT AND PROCEEDINGS HEREUNDER SHALL BE GOVERNED BY THE FEDERAL ARBITRATION ACT (“FAA”) AND CONDUCTED BY JUDICIAL ARBITRATION AND MEDIATION SERVICES, INC. (“JAMS”), IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE JAMS RULES. THE ARBITRATOR SHALL BE BOUND TO APPLY AND ENFORCE THE TERMS OF THE OFFICIAL RULES AND THE ARBITRATOR’S DECISION WILL BE FINAL, BINDING, AND ENFORCEABLE IN A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION. NEITHER ENTRANT NOR SPONSOR SHALL BE ENTITLED TO JOIN OR CONSOLIDATE CLAIMS IN ARBITRATION BY OR AGAINST OTHER CONSUMERS OR ARBITRATE ANY CLAIM AS A REPRESENTATIVE OR MEMBER OF A CLASS. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will entrants be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages (including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs), other than actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Sweepstakes) and further waive all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

13. Entrant's Personal Information:

a. Information collected from entrants is dependent upon the entry mechanism utilized. Information collected from entrants entering via the Course is subject to the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy. Information collected from those entering for free online is subject to the Administrator's Privacy Policy. When you submit the Course’s entry form for the Sweepstakes, you agree to receive emails from the Sponsor that contain information about the Sweepstakes. When you enter and submit the alternate online entry form, you may also be asked to opt-in to receive promotional emails from the Sponsor. You can opt-out of receiving offers from the Sponsor at any time and opting-in does not impact your chances of winning.

14. Winners List and Rules Requests:

a. A winners list will be available to all participants by or around the 3rd of each month. To view a list of winners, visit www.SuzeU.com/Sweepstakes. During the Promotion Period, Official Rules requests may be sent Hay House, Inc. P.O. Box 5100, Carlsbad, California 92018-5100. Attn: Sweepstakes. Rules requests must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Residents of Vermont may omit return postage for rules requests.
